Hillbill98′s travel blog entry: “I woke early and headed down stairs for my last fried breakfast for a while, checked out and headed to the ferry terminal. I÷Æ booked my ticket in Taupo and given my card details over the phone, but the lady hadn’t÷Ö accepted payment so I had to pay again (strange, but have since checked my records and seem to be ok). We left through the harbour and I waved goodbye to Wellington and the north island, it was a beautiful day, the sea was like a millpond and the scenery was beautiful. I bumped into Brian, an Irish school teacher I÷Æ met in Auckland and we swopped stories of all the exciting things we÷Æ seen and done. My Stray Bus ticket cost 0 while his Intercity bus ticket for the same distance cost only 0! I was paying an extra 0 for a guide and to go a little further, I decided i÷Æ been duped by the travel agent! We arrived in Picton and Brian made his way to the bus for Nelson while I went to find a hostel, I was staying in the area to do the Queen Charlotte track. The hostel owners were lined up outside trying to convince people to stay with them. Business was slow! I chose to stay with the first people I met, Brian and Linda who ran Picton Lodge. It÷Õ a small little hostel with a lovely kitchen and big common room with free TV and a large video
