Will’s travel blog entry: “After a couple of relatively quiet weeks, December was shaping up to be a pretty busy month. Not only were Ania and I gearing up for her first trip to Tasmania, but Steve was stopping by for a couple of days on his way home from a two week holiday in Japan. We met him in Seoul after my Saturday morning class and spent the rest of his first day wandering around Insadong (where we missed the opening hours of two major palaces) and checking out the city lights from above at the N’Seoul tower. We had originally planned to do a full day tour of the DMZ later that week, but due to a last minute schedule change at my work we were forced to cancel. Unable to visit Panmunjom (the village located on the ceasefire line), with this part of the DMZ being closed on Sundays and Mondays for some reason, we decided instead to do a half day DMZ tour taking in the Dora observatory, the 3rd infiltration tunnel, Dorasan station and Imjingak Park. The DMZ is a strip of land 4km wide and 248km long, which divides the two Koreas and is one of the most heavily fortified borders in the world.
