The Yarra Valley is Victoria’s first wine growing district with a history stretching back over 160 years. Located at the southern tip of the Great Dividing Ranges only an hour away from the city of Melbourne, it is a cool climate region with a wide range of microclimates contributing to a variety of wines, including Gewurtztraminer,Merlot, Malvec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
The Mornington Peninsula is a modern wine region an hour south from Melbourne. There are over 50 wineries with cellar doors and some great views across Port Phillip and Western Port bays. With its maritime climate and red volcanic soils a variety of wines are produced such as Pinot Noir and Shiraz including the lesser known Viogner and Pinot Gris.
