Spring break is a vacation that is traditional among high school and college students, in which they travel to exotic locations for a week of fun. Spring break comes between mid-March and mid-April when students get ten days off from schools and colleges. They spend the whole break indulging in various entertainment and fun activities at any of the different spring break locations across the country. Students from the various universities and even high schools get a spring break and many go on trips and parties.
There are hundreds of locations throughout the nation serving as spring break spots. Some of the most popular spots are Cancun, Jamaica, South Padre Island, Acapulco, and Panama City Beach. Some recent studies show that over one million students go to these locations to enjoy their spring vacation. Cancun has everything that a spring breaker could dream of–perfect weather, beautiful white sand beaches, warm ocean waves, unlimited recreational activities, and unparalleled nightlife. Cancun is also famous for its unlimited water sports, gentle trade winds, and international atmosphere. Mexico is one of the most popular locations for all-inclusive spring break getaways.
There are many attractive spring break packages available at affordable rates, offered by various tour companies and hotels. Most packages are inclusive of airfare, accommodation, and other expenses.
A pleasant spring break is often marred by violence and other notorieties. There was an alarming increase in crimes committed by vacationers in the 1970s and 1980s. This forced the local governments to impose some restrictions on summer break holidaying in the late 1980s.
