Spiced-Up Thanksgiving Menus for the Annual Event

Author by : Gail Leino

As Americans, we love to gather around a table full of food to eat and socialize for special event but often we forget the core job of the prepare and how much thought they had to put into making sure the menu for the evening was adequate. Not only does the out-of-the-ordinary menu add to table conversation but it also brings about acknowledgment to the head chef for their preparations and hard work. To gain the recognition you truly deserve this holiday season try including some of these ideas to spark the attention of your guests.

The ordinary turkey Roasted to a golden brown crisp is an all time favorite but also is a rather expected table item. One of the best ideas to grab the attention of your guests includes literally dressing the turkey. Adding clothing from a young child’s closet will enhance the conversations around the table. Obviously you need to choose something that doesn’t leave behind fuzzy lint and that you don’t mind if it gets stained but it is an excellent way to set apart your buffet display from the regular hum-drum of the previous years.

Changing colors from what one might expect also takes people off guard. Clear flavored water, orange mashed potatoes, green vanilla pudding and the list could go on forever. Anything unexpected will do the trick and the task does not take rocket science. A few drops of food coloring usually will be sufficient. One important consideration to include is whether or not any of your guests have a sensitivity or allergy to food coloring.

Desserts can also be changed into extraordinary pieces. Changing the regular pies and cakes into finger food or similarly, changing finger food into cakes or pies, one can expect the guest will comment on their surprise. Making cakes into finger food can easily be achieved through cupcake liners and toothpicks.

No matter how you decide to go with the holiday spread, traditional or not, remember that even if nobody acknowledges the hard preparations that went into creating the meal that it was definitely appreciated and is so stated through every empty dish and plate.
