Author by : Bernadette Dimitrov

Is it true that giving produces joy which leads to happiness? Well from the readings of many wise men and some research studies, it appears so! Here is a quote from The Bible that also reinforces the virtues of generosity:

“… the generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself” (Proverbs 11:24-25).

1. When driving let someone into the stream of traffic – it only takes a few seconds to give and let another driver into the flow of traffic.
2. Take a few extra seconds and hold the door open for someone behind you.
3. Surprise your partner and wash their car. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to give a gift to help make their life easier.
4. Give a day a month as a volunteer at a shelter or community charity.
5. Thank the check out girl/boy at the grocery store and look at their name tag and use their name when you thank them.

So how do you measure against the researchers findings of the 5 major traits of happy people:

2. Have high self esteem
3. Have a satisfying marriage or close friendships
